Meet the team

Merri Southwood

Merri has been a resident of Greenwich for over 35 years. She and her husband, John, made Greenwich home in 1988. She loves East Ward - its bushland, its waterways, its proximity to the vibrant commercial centres of Lane Cove and Crows Nest. And she values the strong sense of community in East Ward.

Merri has cherished her community engagement with Greenwich Public School, local high schools, and the Greenwich Community Association.

But what makes Merri really motivated is the opportunity to represent the engaged and enthusiastic community of East Ward.

Helena Greenwell

Helena has lived with her family in Lane Cove her whole life, attending Lane Cove Public School and currently owns and operates her own small pet care business based in Lane Cove.

She is passionate about promoting sustainability and engaging and supporting younger members of the community. She feels particularly strongly about ensuring that accountability and transparency is at the forefront of all council processes.

In earning her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award she gained a wide range of volunteering experience in the local community and remains passionate about giving back to her community.

Peter Re

Peter and his wife have been Lane Cove residents for almost 20 years and now live in the Pottery Green area. Their two children attend St Michael’s Catholic Primary School.

Peter grew up in Lane Cove, graduated as a Chemical Engineer and worked in industry for 30 years.

Peter was on the committee for the daycare service that his children attended in Lane Cove North for 5 years.

He has managed and coached the various sporting teams in which his children have played.

Peter is concerned that major projects are being considered by Council in isolation and that the cumulative impacts of all developments are not being addressed proactively. He believes Council needs more foresight and transparency in development decision making processes to build in sustainability and retain the amenity of the area.
